- done_all Hardware assembly of IR sensors on a Raspberry Pi-based wheeled robot
- done_all Basics of processing IR sensor signals
- done_all Detecting black and white surfaces with IR sensors and Python programming
The "Infrared Sensor Control with Python" course of the Sensors and IoT course path, introduces users to the category of infrared (IR) sensors and how to equip wheeled robots with them in order to make the robots capable of detecting the difference between black and white surfaces and navigate through a challenging course. At first, students are presented with the basics of infrared technology and how this is applied to create different types of sensors. Then, students learn how to mount the IR sensors on the wheeled robot created in the wheeled robot course series. Afterwards, the basic principles of IR sensor output signal processing is analyzed and the methodology for detecting black and white surfaces with IR sensors and Python programming is presented. Finally, students tackle the final challenge of making the wheeled robot follow a black path on a white floor using all the skills they have attained.
